Black and Decker Drill
Product Teardown
As a naturally curious person, I’m always interested in how products work—how individual components come together to form a cohesive unit.
For this project, I completely disassembled a Black & Decker BDCD8C electric drill to analyze its inner workings. After separating and labeling each part by section, I created a detailed function structure outlining the drill’s required inputs, external resources, and energy sources.
Next, I measured each individual component and modeled the drill in SolidWorks, producing both a complete 3D representation and an exploded view to showcase its internal structure.
